“Index Data has had a lively and fruitful collaboration with Samhæng since 2016. We first first began working together on the FOLIO project, an international collaboration of dozens of libraries and commercial companies to build an entirely new software platform. Our role in the project was to establish not only the core principles of the platform itself but also a methodology for managing the interactions between subject matter experts and developers within the project. This is where Samhæng had a tremendous impact. We wanted to empower the users of the software by putting them right in the driver’s seat of the development project, and to do so, Samhæng worked with us to create a user-centric approach to requirements modeling, in which UX experts worked with groups of subject matter experts to create interactive prototypes prior to the development of any business logic. This approach was made challenging by the globally distributed nature of the project, where face to face meetings were costly and had to be supplemented extensively with online working sessions.
The team from Samhæng eventually designed the core user experience principles of our project as well as our collaborative model. They also described this working model so that it could be followed by others in the project, and eventually, Samhæng came to lead a distributed team of UX experts made up of people from different organizations.
The success of this collaboration led us to engage with Samhæng in other strategic activities: Another global library collaboration as well as a critically important project for a major national library and a key Index Data customer.
Throughout our work together, Samhæng has been deeply professional and strongly engaged in the substance of our work together. Their approach has impressed our project partners so much that they have been retained for further projects by organizations within these larger collaborations. At Index Data, our collaboration with Samhæng has been both productive and deeply professionally and intellectually stimulating. We would not hesitate to recommend them to our peers and colleagues for further projects, and we hope to continue our collaboration with Samhæng for many years to come.”
